New Istanbul Views
(2024- Ongoing)
This project examines the cultural and spatial transformation of migrant communities through the new urban forms emerging on the outskirts of Istanbul. The concrete blocks rising in areas such as Başakşehir and Esenyurt reveal the fragile surfaces of urban belonging and identity formation. The neutral facades of the buildings and the cultural traces carried by the bodies of migrants reveal a map of alienation concealed beneath discourses of modernization. The project examines the new landscapes of Istanbul—where urban memory is fading—through the lenses of space, identity, and belonging.
