Out of Sight
(2020-2021)
*Out of Sight* explores the concepts of emptiness and invisibility on the northern outskirts of Istanbul during the pandemic, a time when bodies were physically distanced from one another.Conducted in the rural area of Çatalca, this project bears witness to nature’s silent yet persistent presence in a landscape where human presence has dwindled. The photographs present a memory atlas shaped by chance discoveries: abandoned spaces, desolate landscapes, and the voids in between transform into a state of existence where time stands still.By revealing the tension between spatial solitude and collective uncertainty, the project suggests interpreting the new landscapes taking shape on the city’s outskirts during the pandemic as spaces of both physical and emotional disconnection.
